Welcome to CIFoundation!
It has long been recognized that the United States of America is truly a generous nation. Throughout history, America has given the lives of its sons and daughters and through various means, given billions in aid to rebuild, restore, and improve the lives and lands of people around the world.
The same spirit of American generosity exists here today in Hopkins County. The old saying, “charity begins at home” is ever truer than it is right here in our part of Western Kentucky. In 1971, a small group of individuals came together and formed the Community Improvement Foundation (CIFoundation) to provide for the philanthropic gifts within the community. The goal at the time was to build a community auditorium which later became known as the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts. The vision of the original gathering was for improving the community, a vision that is much alive today! In April 2008, CIFoundation adopted the NewCities Initiative and re-invigorated the drive and passion for community improvement by hiring their first Full-Time Director, Shane Browning. During the course of the past 4 years, we have seen many transitions and challenges be met head-on with love, compassion, and bold determination. The time we have invested to establish the Community Improvement Foundation, Inc. as a First-Rate Philanthropic entity will last for years to come. A Community Foundation is a unique and versatile tool that can be utilized as a vehicle to convene the larger community and as a catalyst for change. Together we can easily and strategically set forth a pattern of long-lasting programs and projects that will make a difference in generations. I believe we have already won the victory, and now is the time for us to claim our prize! Great Grace, Shane Browning, CSRC CIFoundation Executive Director |

Stronger Communities Standing Together! The communities of Hopkins County are even stronger because
through the Community Foundation, we stand with other communities in West
Kentucky. The COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF
WEST KENTUCKY serves as the corporate headquarters for the affiliate
foundations of the communities represented by the Community Improvement
Foundation of Madisonville and Hopkins County, the Community Foundation of
Henderson, the Murray/Calloway County Community Foundation, and the
Glasgow/Barren County Community Foundation.
Together, these five areas are linked to build capacity and
sustainability for the future of Western Kentucky!
